Ravi Shastri Indian cricketer and commentator Biography

 

 

Ravi Shastri has been a former Indian cricketer and captain of the Indian team. The special thing about his career was that when he came to play cricket, he was the only bowler. But later he started focusing on bowling as well as batting and after some time passed, it came to such a time that he emerged as a good batsman. His cricketing career lasted for a long time i.e. 12 years.

Ravi Shastri's full name is Ravi Shankar Jayadritha Shastri He was born on 27 May 1962 in Mumbai and completed his studies at Don Bosco School in Matunga, Vaha.

Vasant Amaladi and especially VS Marshal Patil have been instrumental in making Shastri a great player.

From the time of school, Shastri started playing cricket and won the school in that match, playing on behalf of the school in the Giles Shield Trophy. In 1977, under his leadership, his team won the Giles Shield Trophy for the first time in history. He was then coached by his great coach BD Desai.

After the matriculation examination, he joined RA Poddar College and in the second year of college, he was included in the Maharashtra team to play Ranji Trophy. Shastri was only 17 years old when he was selected to play the Ranji Trophy.

He was later included in India's Under 19 team. He was included in the Indian team in 1981 when the England team visited India.

Since then, his place in his team was fixed until he retired. Shastri was also included in the team that won the World Cup in 1983 in India and played a very important pariah in winning the cup.

He successfully led India in the 1985 World Series in Australia.

He played his last match in 1992 when the Indian team went to South Africa. Later, he retired from cricket and after retiring he started working as a commentator and would believe that he has dominated commentary since then.

Apart from commentary, he has worked for some time as the coach of the Indian team and he has also been the director of the Indian team for two years.
